We recommend storing products out of direct sunlight in a cool, dark place. Lids should always be closed after use, and the bottle should be stored upright.

Our box packaging and jars are all recyclable.

We are currently working towards circular solutions to encourage the reuse of our packaging. Refill services will be offered in the foreseeable future.

Yes, we use compostable bags provided by r3pack, a New Zealand owned business. Each bag is made with corn starch, PLA, and PBAT, and uses non-toxic inks as a natural alternative to traditional plastic-based courier bags.

• Does Aotea support any community initiatives or donate money to charities?
Yes, we are proud to say that for every year we have been in business, we have provided scholarships to our rangatahi Māori (Māori youth) from Aotea to attend high school, and we are in the process of creating more jobs for whānau on the island.

All Aotea products are handmade on Aotea (Great Barrier Island) New Zealand using native flora grown, harvested, extracted, and bottled by our team. Our ingredients are predominantly natural, with a focus on organic sources whenever feasible. While we prioritize organic ingredients, it's essential to acknowledge that not all can be certified organic due to being wild-harvested, reflecting the unique nature of our island-based production process.

The Aotea Therapeutic Pack Contains:

1 x Harakeke Night Cream - 60gm

A rich and nourishing cream designed to revive your skin's moisture overnight. Harakeke is a flax species that is also native to New Zealand. The oil from Harakeke seeds is rich in Linoleic acid and Omegas 3, 6, and 9, which nourish the skin. They help to lock in the moisture, which keeps your skin looking hydrated and healthier. 

1 x Mānuka Day Cream - 60gm

A lightweight day cream formulated to even skin tone, soothe irritations and aid the skin's protective barrier. This is a light and healing face cream for normal skin types. It contains our active, raw and unpasteurised 500+ MGO Mānuka Honey from hives on Aotea. Mānuka Honey is Antimicrobial and a known Anti-inflammatory, which can help to reduce irritations of the skin. It is also known to promote skin regeneration, repair cellular damage and hydrate the skin throughout the day by assisting in the absorption and retention of moisture.

1 x Kawakawa Balm - 30gm

The perfect balance between incredible versatility and technical care, this thick and enriched emollient balm can be used to treat irritations of the skin associated with dry skin, eczema, psoriasis, bites, burns, nappy rash, chapped lips, and acne. The Kawakawa plant is species native to New Zealand. It contains the plant active Diayangambin, which is a naturally occurring anti-inflammatory that can help with a wide range of skin irritations. This formulation also includes extracts from the Mānuka Plant, which is another plant native to New Zealand. Mānuka Oil contains β-Triketones, which are potent antibacterial and antifungal agents, which makes them the perfect addition to topical healing balm.

Harakeke

Harakeke seed oil is rich in omega 3,6 & 9 fatty acids. These fatty acids are nourishing topically for the skin and have been shown to restore depleted cell ingredients for the skin.

Moisturising Anti-ageing

Kawakawa

Kawakawa is revered among Māori as being super healing and restorative. We pick the Kawakawa leaves from our land on Aotea. Our Kawakawa extract is 100% natural and made by steeping the leaves for one week in sweet almond oil.

Anti-inflammatory Antibacterial Analgesic

Mānuka

Like our other inputs, our Mānuka oil is extracted onsite at our farm. The oil is used extensively in our range exhibiting anti-microbial and healing qualities. We also use Mānuka hydrosol which is a by-product of our distillation process that closes pores in the skin and is incredibly restorative.
