• Are Aotea products safe to use on sensitive skin?
Yes, all our products are formulated using natural ingredients with sensitive skin types in mind. We recommend patch testing on a small area on the back of the hand for extra sensitive skin.

• Are Aotea products safe to use on children?
Yes, our formulations are gentle enough to use on children.

• Are Aotea products tested on animals?
No, Aotea products have never been tested on animals.

• Do Aotea products contain synthetic fragrances?
No, all ingredients are derived from natural sources, including the ingredients used to scent our products.

• What is the shelf life of Aotea products?
All Aotea products are formulated with natural ingredients, including our preservatives, giving them a shelf life of 3 years.

• How should I store my products?
We recommend storing products out of direct sunlight in a cool, dark place. Lids should always be closed after use, and the bottle should be stored upright.

• Are your products recyclable?
Our box packaging and jars are all recyclable.

• Does Aotea offer refills?
We are currently working towards circular solutions to encourage the reuse of our packaging. Refill services will be offered in the foreseeable future.

• Are your postal bags compostable?
Yes, we use compostable bags provided by r3pack, a New Zealand owned business. Each bag is made with corn starch, PLA, and PBAT, and uses non-toxic inks as a natural alternative to traditional plastic-based courier bags.

• Does Aotea support any community initiatives or donate money to charities?
Yes, we are proud to say that for every year we have been in business, we have provided scholarships to our rangatahi Māori (Māori youth) from Aotea to attend high school, and we are in the process of creating more jobs for whānau on the island.

All Aotea products are handmade on Aotea (Great Barrier Island) New Zealand using native flora grown, harvested, extracted, and bottled by our team. Our ingredients are predominantly natural, with a focus on organic sources whenever feasible. While we prioritize organic ingredients, it's essential to acknowledge that not all can be certified organic due to being wild-harvested, reflecting the unique nature of our island-based production process.

1 x Harakeke Night Cream - 60gm

A rich and nourishing cream designed to revive your skin's moisture overnight. Harakeke is a flax species that is also native to New Zealand. The oil from Harakeke seeds is rich in Linoleic acid and Omegas 3, 6, and 9, which nourish the skin. They help to lock in the moisture, which keeps your skin looking hydrated and healthier.

1 x Mānuka Day Cream - 60gm

A lightweight day cream formulated to even skin tone, soothe irritations and aid the skin's protective barrier. This is a light and healing face cream for normal skin types. It contains our active, raw and unpasteurised 500+ MGO Manuka Honey from hives on Aotea. Mānuka Honey is Antimicrobial and a known Anti-inflammatory, which can help to reduce irritations of the skin. It is also known to promote skin regeneration, repair cellular damage and hydrate the skin throughout the day by assisting in the absorption and retention of moisture.

1 x Mānuka Honey (500+MGO) Face Mask - 60gm

Our active Mānuka mask contains 500+ MGO Mānuka Honey and is deeply restorative to the skin. This mask is made with raw and unprocessed 500+ MGO Manuka Honey and Manuka Oil. These native to New Zealand ingredients, contain the bioactives Methylglyoxal and β-Triketones, which are naturally occurring Anti-inflammatories and Anti-bacterials that will help to restore and regenerate your skin.

Harakeke

Harakeke seed oil is rich in omega 3,6 & 9 fatty acids. These fatty acids are nourishing topically for the skin and have been shown to restore depleted cell ingredients for the skin.

Moisturising Anti-ageing

Mānuka

Like our other inputs, our Mānuka oil is extracted onsite at our farm. The oil is used extensively in our range exhibiting anti-microbial and healing qualities. We also use Mānuka hydrosol which is a by-product of our distillation process that closes pores in the skin and is incredibly restorative.
